Jean Louis Benae, M.D., F.A.A.N.S, F.I.C.S
At an early age, Dr. Jean Louis Benae was destined to become a neurosurgeon. Fascinated with the complexities of the brain and its integral role in the human experience, he pursued his passion with relentless determination. Dr. Benae is deeply committed to understanding the root causes of his patients’ conditions, believing this is key to developing the best treatment plans.
Dr. Benae, fluent in French, moved to Paris, France, from his native Cameroon, Africa, as a teenager to chase his dream of becoming a neurosurgeon. Noticing that much of the neuroscience literature came from English-speaking countries, he decided at the age of 20 to “go to the source.” He relocated to California and enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). At UCLA, he earned his undergraduate degree in Physiological Sciences and his Doctorate in Medicine from the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine. He furthered his education with a fellowship in neurotrauma research at the UCLA Brain Injury Research Center and completed his neurosurgery residency in Wisconsin.
After practicing as a neurosurgeon in Mississippi, Dr. Benae founded his own practice in Texas in the summer of 2014. Since then, he has earned the respect of the Dallas community and his medical peers. He has been recognized as one of D Magazine’s “Best Docs” and was voted by Living Magazine as the best neurosurgeon and spine surgeon in McKinney and Allen.
At North Texas Brain & Spine Specialists, Dr. Benae treats a variety of conditions, including neck and back pain, brain and spine tumor resections, and craniofacial pain disorders. He utilizes minimally invasive techniques and cutting-edge procedures to diagnose and treat his patients effectively. He prioritizes patient education, ensuring they understand their pain, the available treatment options, and the reasons behind his recommendations. Dr. Benae is known for his compassionate approach and thorough care, taking the time to listen to his patients and treat them like family.
Dr. Benae also coordinates medical missions to underserved regions in Latin America and Africa, providing help, equipment, and sharing his knowledge to make a meaningful impact. He considers himself a healer first, striving to use his resources, education, and tools to improve the lives of others.
